Client Preparation for the State's PSI Interview & COMPAS Assessment

Several weeks after the judge in your case orders a Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI), an agent will make contact with you via mail or phone to schedule a meeting for an assessment.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections used the Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions (COMPAS) as their risk/needs assessment tool. COMPAS takes your responses to 137 questions and will make determinations about your perceived risk level to the community and sentencing recommendation to the court.
Since COMPAS will not release how it quantifies or weighs each question to the next (algorithm) to arrive at an outcome, your responses are VERY important during this phase of the process.
Between 2012 and 2016, I had over 1000 interactions with the COMPAS program and am intimately aware what questions are "traps" to getting a poor outcome.
